Celebrating Celebration: History & Perspectives
Just south of Walt Disney World lies Celebration, Florida, a place heralded as an idyllic, all-American town built straight from Walt Disney’s imagination. But is Celebration legally considered a “town,” and did Walt Disney even know Celebration was being built? Join Griffon Binkowski, a lifelong Celebration resident and History Center educator, in an exploration of Celebration’s creation and unique history, accompanied by firsthand accounts about growing up in “The Town That Disney Built.”
About the Speaker
Griffon Binkowski is an educator at the Orange County Regional History Center. He is completing his bachelor’s degree in anthropology with honors from the University of Central Florida. He will enter UCF’s graduate anthropology program in fall 2024, where he will focus on bioarchaeology. Binkowski has served as a public. educator for nearly five years, where he has passionately worked to bring Florida’s unique and authentic historic story to the Central Florida community.
